Advanced 1 Image

This is the image connected to the picture dictation we did the other day. It's quite powerful, isn't it and of course it immediately makes one think of terrible
things.
What do you think the story is behind this image? Leave some ideas below. Thanks!

On Friday morning I will reveal the article connected to this image.

  1. Hello Liz, I do know what is the story behind that image because yesterday I found the article from "The Guardian" newspaper surfing on internet, but anyway, yes it is a really terrible story. Sorry about that, I am not a cheater I couldn't stand waiting for the solution.
    Regards, Carlos Calzada.

  2. Hello everyone,
some people in class said that the little boy could be a homeless. Perhaps his parents had tied him to a lamppost and then they left him on the street.
In Asian cultures, for example in China, people only can have a one child (I´m not really sure about this, but is something similar). This could be related with this shocking and stranging story.
    Regards

  4. Hi, Liz, perhaps, it could be that the parents had tied him for your security. It's strange, I know, but it is possible that the parents will need to work and they haven't money to pay a person that care to the child, and they belive that the boy coulb be more secure tied to a lamppost.

  5. I've found the article too.I was dying to know...

Before reading it, I thought about child's parents. Perhaps they couldn't take care of him because they had to work.
I thought about a sort of nasty street show, too.

Anyway, country's government must have other more important things to take care of than little children's well-being...

  6. Hi everyone, thanks very much for your contributions. I am actually delighted to know that your curiosity was aroused enough to want to go and find the article yourselves! ; )
The story is totally credible, isn't it, I mean we live in a sort of paradise here in the West(crisis or no crisis) in comparison to what other people have to live through....sometimes we need reminding of that, I think. I will put the article up maybe today instead of tomorrow morning so that we can talk about it in class with both groups. Thanks again for getting involved.

  8. Hi,Liz! I´m knowing the story of the picture´s child now 'cause I have read the comments of my classmates. Sorry for that. However, before I read it, I thought the little boy was being exploited by a mafia organization that was trapped him.

Now,I'm going to the web of The Guardians paper and I'm reading his article about this little boy. See you tomorrow!
