Hi everyone,

Have a look at this speaking video of part 1 of the CAE speaking exam.
How would you have answered these questions? Make a note of the questions
and think of the different ways you would express yourself in order
to answer these same questions.
We will have some time in class next week to practice them.

Have a good weekend! : )

Write a Story (First Certificate)

(Taken by me in Dublin, September 09 : ))

Hi everyone,

Using the criteria for writing a story that we looked at in the Student's book, can you select a First Certificate story question from Exam 1 Part 2 in the Exam book
and write it into this Newspaper Story Generator. Save the story and e-mail it to 3 other people from your group.
Leave a comment below about the experience.

FCE Speaking Exam Parts 3 and 4

Have a look at parts 3 and 4 of the FCE Speaking Exam - answer the questions the examiner is asking using the Speaking Functions Reference in the students' book as a guidance. Leave a comment about how you got on and if you and a partner managed to finish the task in the required time.

FCE Speaking Test Part 1

This video shows the 1st and 2nd part of the FCE Speaking Exam. I'd like you to watch it and for the 1st part make a note of the questions and then either record yourself or practice with a partner on asking such questions. Can you think of different ways to give your opinion apart from saying 'I think...'?

Watch part two. Check the language in the Language Functions section of your students book - do these students use language of comparing, contrasting, speculating and giving preferences? Using the language functions listed in your students book, practice this part of the test by either recording yourself do it or by practising with a friend.

Leave a comment below about how you got on.
