Intermediate 1 'The Book of Happiness' plus Lyrics!

Hello Intermediate people ; )!

Remember we've been talking about 'happiness' in class (yes, we are that deep! ; )) and we've had a look at this fantastic video about happiness and talked about the lyrics and tried to sing along... ; )

An exercise I'd like you to do is extract from the video some of the things we can do to be happy! Remember what we talked about in class that the imperative in English is much, much easier than in Spanish! For example 'Follow your instinct!' 'Show yourself'....so we just use the verb without a subject and in the negative we put 'Don't' e.g. 'Don't Follow Your Instinct'

Can you take some of the sentences from the video and write them in the comments box! There is some great advice here and I love it all...how about you?

P.S. I have now added the lyrics of the song here...enjoy and keep practising singing! ; )

'The Book of Happiness' Song

I'm a new soul, I came to this strange world hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take, but since I came here, felt the joy and the fear, finding myself making every possible mistake.
La la la la la la etc.

I'm a young soul in this very strange world hoping I could learn a bit about what is true and fake, but why all this hate try to communicate finding trust and love is not always easy to make.
La la la la la la etc.

This is a happy end, 'cos you don't understand, everything you have done, why's everything so wrong?
This is a happy end, come and give me your hand, I'll take you far away.

I'm a new soul I came to this strange world hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take but since I came here felt the joy and the fear, finding myself making every possible mistake.

La la la la la la etc

Advanced 1 Timeless 'Queen' will rock you!

In Advanced 1 we are looking at past and present time phrases and using them in sentences to talk about British rock group Queen who are totally and utterly timeless in my estimation! ; ) Here is a great version of 'I Want to Break Free' which we are doing in class to complement the vocabulary activity. Listen again and leave your reactions and comments below. Some motivating questions could be:

Do you like this version?
What do you think the song is about?
Enjoy this fabulous group and if you are curious why not do some research on them and let us know in the comments box what you've discovered.

Also just to add on another Queen Song: We Are the Champions...let us know what you think of it. This song has been sung a lot in Spain recently...and maybe Las Palmas will have reason to sing it again if the city becomes European City of Culture! ; )
