INTERMEDIATE 1 EXAM COMMENTS AND ADVICE

Hi everyone,

Just to confirm some advice that I have already given in class. : )

Speaking Exam

1. You have practiced a lot of speaking in class throughout the year and I am very confident that you will do well in your Speaking Exam if you remain calm and focused. The trick is to believe that you will do it well and then you will do it well... ; )

2. Remember that you cannot take any books nor notes into the classroom when it is your speaking turn. You just need pen and I will give you some paper to make notes.

3. The Speaking Exam is an opportunity for you to 'show off' the vocabulary and grammar we have studied in class!

4. Please do not learn things by heart and repeat them. It is ok to learn expressions and words, naturally, but do not recite whole pieces that you have learned by heart as this will not sound 'natural' in the exam.

5. Practice as much as possible...why not practice by recording yourself on Vocaroo and then listen to yourself...I guarantee it will help you.

6. And last but not least, take it easy!

Writing Exam

1. The Writing Exam is based on the writings we have done from the Work-Book portfolio (P.70/71, P.78/79, P.90/91, P.98/99,P.100/101). It is important you know the special expressions you learnt from these pages in the work-book. The Writing Exam is also based on the work we did in the Students' book. This is another opportunity for you to use the grammar and vocabulary that we have studied throughout the year.

General Comments

1. The results of the Exams will be posted on the notice-board on Thursday the 31st of May at 5pm. If you want to talk to me about your exam result, I will be in the classroom between 4.30 pm and 6.00 pm.

2. And finally, best of luck to everybody in the exams. It has been a pleasure working with you all.
